So So Def’s DJ Nabs documented the early days of Atlanta’s Hip Hop scene in the new book Old Skool Sundays – The Club Kaya Experience. The Nabs-hosted weekly music event at Club Kaya featured appearances by rap stars such as Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris, Ja Rule, Lil Jon, DJ Drama, Redman, Method Man, and more.
“Thank goodness I managed to keep just about everything from Old Skool Sundays,” says DJ Nabs. “I held onto photographs, flyers, you name it. This book really is a time capsule of an era we’ll never see again.”
A celebratory book release event is taking place February 8 at Mood Music/Soul Village in Little Five Points. Nabs will be joined by special guests music journalist Mark Hayes, DJ Hurricane, Sean Paul, DJ Kemit, DJ Doc, and others.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to share Atlanta music history with generations to come,” adds DJ Nabs. “Our city’s Hip Hop story continues, and I’m proud to have been a part of such an exciting chapter.”
