Grammy-winning vocalist Jill Scott (The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency) joins the cast of Warner Bros. Television’s Black Lightning. The series is set to debut on The CW in midseason 2018.
“Jill is an amazing artist who can embody any character and give them an authentic voice that is both nuanced and richly complex. I am excited to see her in the role of Lady Eve,” says Black Lightning executive producer Salim Akil.
Cress Williams (Friday Night Lights) will star as Jefferson Pierce, a charter high school principal with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity. Pierce must once again take on the role of Black Lightning in order to oppose The One Hundred gang.
Black Lightning is based on characters from DC Comics. Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash), Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil (Being Mary Jane, Girlfriends), and Sarah Schechter (Arrow, The Flash) are credited as executive producers.
