James Purefoy (Hap) and Michael Kenneth Williams (Leonard) are returning for their starring roles in Hap and Leonard: The Two-Bear Mambo. An Emmy/Oscar winner is joining the cast for season three as well.
SundanceTV announced Louis Gossett Jr. (Roots, An Officer and a Gentleman) is set to play a veterinarian-turned-cook named Bacon for the six-part drama. The third installment of the anthology will also feature Andrew Dice Clay, Corbin Bernsen, Laura Allen, and Curtis Harding.
“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the Hap and Leonard family – especially getting the opportunity to work with Michael Kenneth Williams again, whom I consider a son. It’s now come full circle,” says Gossett Jr.
Dice Clay adds, “I can’t wait [to] roll up my pants and dredge through this rollercoaster of a season with the likes of Hap and Leonard. I just love this show!”
Hap and Leonard is inspired by Joe R. Lansdale’s book series of the same name. For season 3, Hap and Leonard must find Florida Grange who has gone missing in the KKK-infested Grovetown.
Production for the show has begun in Atlanta. Hap and Leonard: The Two-Bear Mambo is scheduled to premiere on SundanceTV in early 2018.
