The Pan African Film and Art Festival is considered the largest and most prestigious Black film festival in America. The annual event highlights movies, art, and creative expression featuring people of African descent.

The 2014 edition will include appearances from actress/rapper Lil Mama (CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story), actress/producer Vanessa Bell Calloway (What’s Love Got To Do With It?), actor Michael DeLorenzo (New York Undercover), actress/singer Dawnn Lewis (A Different World), and more.

Lil Mama

Lil Mama will serve as the celebrity host for PAFF’s Spoken Word Fest. Calloway, DeLorenzo, Lewis, and several other stars have been tapped as jurors to judge the film competition. 179 films from 46 countries have been selected for this year’s festival. Awards will be given out for Best Documentary Feature, Best Documentary Short, Best Narrative Short, Best Narrative Feature, and Best First Feature Film. Each category will also have audience awards as well.

The Kevin Hart led About Last Night has been chosen as the CenterPiece movie. The opening night film will be Jahmil X.T. Qubeka’s Of Good Report, and the closing night film will be Patrik-Ian Polk’s Blackbird. Other movies screening at PAFF include Blue Caprice, Finding The Funk, The Magic City, Render To Caesar, and Urban Rhythm.

The 22nd Pan African Film and Arts Festival is scheduled for February 6-17th at Rave Cinemas Baldwin Hills 15 at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles, California.
