It’s that time again for DZI: The Voice to present 25 emerging music acts that have industry insiders and fervent fans paying close attention to their every move. In past years, our lists have included eventual breakout stars such as Aloe Blacc, Azealia Banks, Emeli Sandé, Haim, Isaiah Rashad, Jhené Aiko, Mack Wilds, Rita Ora, Sam Smith, and Tinashe.
The 2015 crop features another batch of talented musicians that are also capable of making serious waves in the entertainment world in the near future. Check out the first five entries in DZI: The Voice‘s “25 Music Acts You Need To Know” series.

Alison Wonderland
Genre: Synthpop, EDM
Hometown: Sydney, Australia
Description: The producer/DJ from Down Under is actually a classical trained cellist. The former member of the Sydney Youth Opera uses that musical knowledge to craft her electronic infuse tunes. Wonderland’s debut studio album Run broke into the Top 20 in New Zealand and the Top 10 in Australia.

BJ The Chicago Kid
Genre: R&B, Hip Hop Soul
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
Description: The Midwest representative hasn’t even released a major label album yet, but his discography already includes collaborations with Kanye West, Big K.R.I.T., and Kendrick Lamar. It was the featured vocals on another TDE artist’s single that put eyes nationwide on Bryan James. Schoolboy Q’s “Studio” featuring BJ became a radio hit.

Charlie Puth

Description: If Justin Bieber is the most famous performer to go from YouTube sensation to international Pop star, Charlie could be the next to make that leap. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter is featured on Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” – the current number one song in the U.S. – and he recently teamed with fellow chart-topper Meghan Trainor for his own single “Marvin Gaye”.

Denzel Curry

Description: South Florida has produced the raunchy Miami bass of 2 Live Crew, the gangster tales of Rick Ross, and the Hip House party sound of Flo Rida. Rising rapper Denzel Curry is now taking the Sunshine State in a different direction. The C9 crew member’s eccentric style has led to him being christened the “Crown Prince Of Rap” in Miami.

Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment

Description: Chance The Rapper may have established himself as one of the bright young emcees of this generation, but the Acid Rap creator is taking a backseat in the four-man band known as The Social Experiment. Instead, instrumentalist Nico “Donnie Trumpet” Segal is controlling the reigns for the group’s forthcoming Surf LP.
